Senior Center Dispatcher

The Dispatcher reports to the Director and is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all in-town transportation for older adults and people with disabilities, which requires working closely with the staff drivers.  Additional duties include serving as the initial point of contact for the public via phone or walk-in visits, conducting tours of the Senior Center, providing necessary paperwork to new visitors, performing clerical and direct service support functions, and compiling monthly and annual reports for various funding sources.   CORI check required by law.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and schedule transportation services for older adults and persons with disabilities by gathering detailed information from callers and working closely with staff drivers to ensure high-quality service.
  • Assist in providing back-up driving services when needed.
  • Maintain accurate statistical and financial information for reporting purposes to various funding sources; submit monthly reports to the Director and the State Grant Program summarizing activity for the previous month and compile a comprehensive year-end report for the State and Town.
  • Responsible for scheduling required maintenance of all vans and necessary follow-up to verify that preventative maintenance schedule is followed. Periodically accompany staff drivers for the purpose of monitoring and conducting customer surveys to ensure the highest quality of service is provided.
  • Serve as the public’s first point of contact in person and via phone, providing information, referrals, and tours of the Senior Center.
  • Perform clerical assignments and reception duties in the afternoon which include answering the phone and registering individuals for appointments and/or activities.
  • Perform similar or related work as needed and assigned by the Director or designee to ensure the efficient operation of the Senior Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 21 years of age; provide proof of a valid driver’s license, have no serious criminal or motor vehicle violation records that would indicate a disrespect for the law, experience or knowledge of dispatching and transportation services including ADA; CPR certification and MARTA training courses are a plus.  Must possess excellent customer service skills with sincere interest and patience in working with seniors; advanced computer skills; strong organizational skills, ability to pay attention to detail, maintain strict confidentiality and be a self-starter.  Subject to random drug testing. Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of the position.  Additionally, Candidate must be able to work Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
