Commission on Disabilities: The Select Board is seeking a volunteer to fill a vacancy on the Ludlow Commission on Disabilities. Persons with knowledge of the needs of the disabled, those with disabilities or those with a disabled family member are encouraged to apply. Finance Committee

  • The Town of Ludlow is seeking civic-minded residents to serve on its Finance Committee. This is an appointed volunteer position offering a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the financial stewardship of our community.
  • About the Finance Committee: Finance Committee members play a vital role in guiding Ludlow’s financial decisions. Acting as fiscal watchdogs for the voters, the committee reviews and advises on all matters with financial implications, ensuring responsible use of public funds. Responsibilities are outlined in M.G.L. Chapter 39, §16.
  • Key Responsibilities Include: Budget Review & Recommendation, Evaluate and recommend a balanced town budget, including capital requests and fiscal policies. Fiscal Oversight, Analyze financial matters and advise on warrant articles and spending proposals. Reserve Fund Management, Oversee the Reserve Fund to address unexpected or extraordinary town expenses. Advisory Role, Provide financial insight and guidance to town meeting voters. Fund Transfers, Approve departmental fund transfers and allocate Reserve Fund support as needed. Time Commitment: Members typically meet monthly on the third Wednesday from September through June, with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Meetings are generally 1–2 hours long, and members may occasionally conduct research outside of meeting times.
  • Who Should Apply: Anyone with a willingness to serve and learn is encouraged to apply. While finance or business experience is helpful, it is not required. This is a great opportunity to get involved in local government and help shape Ludlow’s financial future.

Ludlow Cultural Council

The Select Board is seeking applicants to fill multiple vacancies on the Ludlow Cultural Council. These are voluntary appointments to three-year terms. The Cultural Council, a committee of the Select Board, coordinates annual grant programs that provide support to local artists, entertainers, and organizations, helping to promote the cultural vitality of the town. Members also assist in organizing town-wide events, including the annual summer concert series. The Committee meets on the fourth Monday of each month. Letters of interest should be submitted to the Select Board’s Office at selectboard@ludlow.ma.us.

Conservation Commission

The Select Board is seeking to fille one vacancy for a three-year term on the Conservation Commission. This is a voluntary positions. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday evening of each month and Saturday mornings prior to meetings for site visits, if needed.

Westover Municipal Golf Commission

The Select Board is seeking to fill two (2) vacancies for four-year terms on the Westover Municipal Golf Commission.  The Commission is charged with the management of the Westover Municipal Golf Course including establishing rules and regulations for the use of the golf course, setting user fees, granting a contract for food concession, and ensuring that repairs and improvements are carried out in a timely fashion. Mobile Home Rent Control Board

The Ludlow Select Board is seeking applicants to fill one (1) vacancy on the Town of Ludlow Mobile Home Rent Control Board for a three-year term.  This is a voluntary position.

Zoning Board of Appeals

The Select Board is seeking to appoint one regular member to serve on the Zoning Board of Appeals for an unexpired five-year term and two alternate members. These are non-compensated positions. The Board of Appeals is charged with hearing appeals or petitions for Variances, Section 6 Findings, and Special Permits according to Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 40A, and the Town of Ludlow Zoning Bylaws.  The Board of Appeals meets on an as needed basis at Ludlow Town Hall in the Select Board’s Conference Room, third floor at 7:00 PM, upon receipt of a request for a Hearing, Appeal, Variance, Section 6 Finding or Special Permit.
