The Ludlow Pond Committee has some exciting news! This year we are adding Murphy Pond (on Holyoke Street) to our group of ponds we will be managing. On Friday morning, May 16, our contractor, Water and Wetland, will be out to treat Murphy Pond. They will be posting bright signs around the perimeter of the pond notifying of the treatment. The treatment is safe for all wildlife, pets and humans but we ask that you avoid the pond for 24-48 hours to give them time to work and the treatment to do its job! This treatment will significantly reduce the weed growth in the pond and bring it back to a healthy environment for aquatic life.
Water and Wetland will also be conducting a review of Haviland and Harris Pond on Friday, May 16th to determine if any treatment is necessary this year for these ponds. They really look pretty awesome so far this year!
We have a couple more Ludlow Ponds we are reviewing and will provide further updates here once we have more news.
Thank you to everyone’s support and remember, please keep the ponds free from trash, leaves, grass clippings and any other yard waste!
