LUDLOW — The Ludlow Police Department informs the public that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has indefinitely closed the West Street Bridge due to safety concerns and ask residents to plan alternate travel routes.
On Sunday, Aug. 17, MassDOT conducted an inspection of the West Street Bridge and ordered it closed immediately. The closure will last indefinitely until the concerns are addressed.
The West Street Bridge provides a major thoroughfare into Springfield, so Ludlow Police are advising motorists to plan out other routes.
Further inquiries should be directed to MassDOT. Ludlow Police do not have any additional information regarding the decision to close the bridge.
